No! The whole company will sing a few songs together, so if you would like to express your interest for the ensemble songs only, please email the committee during the audition window.
-
First, select your song. You can use the lists included as inspiration (you do not have to choose a song from the list!). You might start by googling “musicals prior to 2000” and see if any shows tickle your fancy. Listening to cast recordings on Spotify will give you a great start too.
Then, select 60-90 seconds to submit for your audition. You can find a backing track online or sing a capella (without music).
Keep an eye out on the website and social media for the link to submit your video. Auditions will be accepted between May 4 and May 16.
-
Auditions will be a 90 second video submission of a song from 1930-1999.
The intention is for everyone who auditions to be cast for a solo, duet, small ensemble or featured ensemble.
The casting team will curate the show based on song choices, talent and overall artistic vision. The goal would be that every auditioning soloist is provided one opportunity to shine (in a solo, duet or small ensemble), plus full company is involved in two to three ensemble numbers.
Second songs by individuals would be discussed if the number of auditionees is less than 20.
-
The Golden casting team will meet, review all audition videos and ensemble submissions and contact performers by May 18. It is anticipated that most performers will be singing their audition song, however, some performers may be taken in a different direction. The casting team will look at double ups, balance of ballads and up tempos, number of performers and overall shape of the concert.
-
Rehearsals will start after the June long weekend. There will be full company rehearsals to start, to learn ensemble numbers, and then performers will be called for a one-on-one rehearsal with the producer and musical director to finesse their number.
Production week starts on July 11 and all company members will be required for a Wednesday night sitzprobe and Friday night full dress rehearsal.
RMS rehearsals are Wednesday evening, 7.30-9pm, and Sunday afternoon, 1-5pm and will be held at the Loxton Community Theatre. Performers will not be required for every rehearsal. A clear rehearsal schedule will be provided once casting is complete.
If you are unavailable for your scheduled one on one rehearsal, swaps are encouraged.
-
You may choose to incorporate a small amount of movement into your number, but there will be no choreography provided.
-
Performers need to be 18+ at the time of the concert, but no upper age limit!
-
Yes! There are no prerequisites for involvement, we would love to see new performers, seasoned performers, and out-of-retirement performers!
-
Golden is a concert event, meaning no sets or storyline. There will be scope for very small props to add some pizazz to your number. Rather than costumes, the dress code of the event will be formal/after 5pm, so dress pants, suits, dresses.
Performers will source their own outfit, for approval by the creative team. The colour palette will be rich jewel tones, with plenty of bling- so you may wish to start thinking about what to wear! Block colours are preferred, with some patterns to be approved. Performers do not need to be heavily out of pocket, we encourage you to beg, steal or borrow!
-
All performers are required to be financial members of RMS for 2026. As Golden is not a full scale production, we are offering a reduced membership price of $40.
